5 Ways to Explore and Relax in Westlake Village, CA

Westlake Village beach view

Situated in the eastern tip of Los Angeles County, Westlake Village benefits from a splendid location. The Santa Monica Mountain range lies to the south. Several parks and outdoor spaces are spread throughout the city. And the scenic Westlake Lake is smack in the middle.

It’s no wonder that this city is teeming with exciting activities and relaxing amusements. Here’s a sneak peek:

  1. Explore the city’s 7 public parks

Westlake Village provides residents and visitors a number of ways to enjoy open space in its seven parks:

    • Berniece Bennett Park
    • Canyon Oaks Park
    • Foxfield Park
    • Russell Ranch Park
    • Three Springs Park
    • Westlake Village Community Park
    • Westlake Village Dog Park

Many of these parks feature lighted basketball courts, walking and jogging paths, playgrounds, grilling areas, and more. Westlake Community Park is also where youth sports clubs and organizations regularly practice.

  2. Explore the Santa Monica Mountains

Towards the south lies the magnificent Santa Monica Mountains, where adventure seekers can bask in the glory of nature. There are a handful of trail paths here that will make for a solid outdoor experience, but the most famous route is Backbone Trail.

Tread carefully though as this trail lives up to its name. Stretching for about 67 miles, it’s considered a difficult route – but probably the most rewarding. The Backbone features a unique Mediterranean coastal habitat that’s rarely seen anywhere else.

If you prefer taking it easy, you do have the option to traverse this route on horseback. Mountain bikers can access the route, but the bike trail only covers up to 43 miles.

  3. Play golf

Whether you’re shaking off the rust or trying out a new sport for a change, Westlake Village has a few golf courses you can visit.

North Ranch Country Club boasts of a combined 27 holes in its Valley, Oaks, and Lakes courses. Renowned architect, Ted Robinson, designed three unique nine-hole courses to give players varying degrees of challenge.

Westlake Golf Course is another course designed by Robinson. Many players particularly enjoy the 40-stall night-lighted driving range, fully-stocked bar, practice putting, and chipping green, among other top-notch amenities.

Whichever course you choose, golf is an ideal hobby and pastime in Westlake Village.

  4. Discover the city’s thriving restaurant scene

The restaurant selection in Westlake Village will surely bring out your inner connoisseur.

If you’re into upscale waterfront dining, Boccaccio’s Restaurant is a must-visit. Gaze at the serene waters of Westlake Lake from your outdoor table while relishing a Spaghetti Mediterraneo or enjoying a glass of cabernet sauvignon from Caymus Vineyards.

The Gallery Restaurant is known for its delectable seafood. Oysters in cocktail sauce and spicy tuna are favorites from the seafood bar. For a cozy night out with the gang or with family, this establishment will more than suffice.
